Chain conveyors
Robust and low-maintenance conveyor technology
Chain conveyors are known for their robust construction and low maintenance requirements. They have proven themselves under the most extreme operating conditions and offer numerous advantages for various industrial applications. Here you will find a comprehensive overview of the features, technology, designs and special versions of chain conveyors.
Advantages of chain conveyors
Chain conveyors offer a variety of advantages that make them a preferred choice in many industrial applications.
Die wichtigsten Vorteile im Überblick
The most important advantages at a glance
- Completely enclosed housing:
Protects the conveyed material and the environment from dust and contamination. - High operational reliability:
Suitable for 24/7 operation under harsh conditions. - Ex applications: Suitable for potentially explosive areas thanks to low conveying speed.
- Low maintenance:
High-quality materials reduce the need for maintenance and repairs - Variable line routing: Adaptable to different space conditions.
- Gentle product transport:
Minimises damage to the conveyed material - Low coefficient of friction:
Plastic/steel friction pairing ensures low-wear operation and low energy costs
The technology of chain conveyors
Chain conveyors are technically mature and can be optimally tailored to the respective application. The technology comprises various parts that are crucial for efficient operation.
Gehäuse
Housing
The housing of a trough chain conveyor can be designed to be dust-proof, oil-tight or gas-tight, depending on requirements. It is made of painted or galvanised mild steel or stainless steel.
Trogvarianten
Trough variants
Depending on the application, the trough chain conveyor can be designed to be hygienic with minimised dead spaces or wear-resistant with HDPE or HARDOX linings.
Förderketten
Conveyor chains
Various types of conveyor chains can be used to ensure smooth and low-wear operation:
- Bushing conveyor chain:
Large contact area between bushings and pins reduces wear. The wide plates allow the carriers to be attached particularly securely. - Drop-forged conveyor chain:
Also known as a fork plate chain. Thanks to their slim design, these chains are particularly well suited for sticky or poorly flowing products.
Antriebskonzepte
Drive concepts
There are many different drive concepts for chain conveyors, which can be adapted to specific requirements:
- Direct drive with bevel gear or flat gear motor
- Spur gear motor and chain drive (i = 1:3)
- Spur gear motor and coupling
Kettenspannung
Chain tension
Chain tension is ensured by stainless steel tensioning spindles and compression springs. The spring tension ensures constant chain tension and reduces wear on the chain and sprockets.
Designs of chain conveyors
Chain conveyors are divided into two main designs, each of which is suitable for different conveying directions and applications:
Horizontale Trogkettenförderer (h-TKF)
Der Einsatz moderner CAD, FEM und DEM Software ermöglicht uns eine passgenauen Planung und die individuelle Umsetzung von Spezialanforderungen, wie zum Beispiel eine optimale Linienführung auf engstem Raum. In modernen Produktionsstätten erfolgt dann die passgenaue Umsetzung, die eine reibungslose Montage gewährleistet.
Horizontal trough chain conveyors (h-TKF)
h-TKF conveyors are designed for horizontal or slightly inclined conveying directions and offer the following features:
- Flat chain flights design
- Conveying direction: Horizontal or slightly inclined
(up to approx. 15°) - Housing widths: Up to 1,600 mm
- Conveying capacity: Up to max. 500 t/h
- Conveying volume: Up to max. 1,000 m³/h
Inclined trough chain conveyors (i-TKF)
i-TKF conveyors are suitable for steeper conveying directions and can be adapted to vertical transport solutions:
- High chain flight design
- Conveyor direction: Inclined (from approx. 16°) to vertical
- Curve segment: Optionally available as
Swan neck conveyor - Housing widths: Up to 1,000 mm
- Conveyor capacity: Up to max. 400 t/h
- Conveyor volume: Up to max. 800 m³/h
Special designs of chain conveyors
Various special designs and accessories are available for special applications and individual requirements:
Explosionsgeschützte Geräteausführung
Explosion-proof design
In accordance with EC Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX), explosion-proof conveyor designs are available for various zones:
- Zone 0/20: frequent gas/dust explosion atmosphere
- Zone 1/21: occasional gas/dust explosion atmosphere
- Zone 2/22: rare gas/dust explosion atmosphere
